What is Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage is a traditional massage which originated in India about 4000 years ago. The techniques used in treatments today have developed from traditional Indian family rituals. Practioners in the West have incorporated the back, shoulders and upper arms into the treatment, as these areas are particularly prone to stress. By including these parts of the body it becomes more effective as a stress management tool, in addition to stimulating the head and hair which was its original purpose.

What happens when I have an Indian Head Massage?
A head massage lasts forty minutes, but you need to allow a little longer for your first treatment as Alison will carry out a brief consultation with you first. During a treatment you remain fully clothed, but you will need to remove earrings and necklaces.
It is ideal if you can wear a top which is loose at the neck such as a t-shirt or open necked shirt, rather than a polo neck. The treatment takes place on a chair which supports your lower back, and Alison will use a variety of techniques to work your head, neck, shoulders and arms. She will explain at the start of the treatment what to expect.
